October 2-4, 2020
Celebrate German heritage and culture along Savannah’s Waterfront during our 37th Annual Oktoberfest. This three-day festival is free and open to the public and will feature German cuisine, music, dancing, and of course, Savannah’s renowned Wiener Dog Races.
Oktoberfest will kick off with a traditional opening toast during our “Fässer Tapper” keg tapping ceremony on Friday, October 2nd on Rousakis Plaza. The plaza is located across from the River Street Welcome Center at the base of City Hall. Those who love all things German are welcome to join in and dance to their favorite tunes with authentic German Oompah, Polka and Waltz songs. Southern Rock/Americana and Country bands also are featured during the festival.
We invite you to come meet our Wiener Dogs and watch them race on Saturday, October 3rd 2020 in Morrell Park on the east end of River Street.
Food vendors will be featuring traditional German dishes such as brats, pretzels and cheese beer dip, frankfurters, kalte ente and more. Perfectly paired with those dishes are the German beer selections as well as domestic favorites. Wine, Seltzers, Soda and waters can be enjoyed at our cash bars on Rousakis Plaza throughout the duration of the festival. ATM machines will be available.
Arts and crafts vendors will provide visitors with unique and handmade shopping opportunities including painting, pottery, jewelry and photography all weekend.
