Announcing the return of the popular Savannah Wiener Dog Races during Oktoberfest at Plant Riverside District!

The 2024 Savannah Wiener Dog Races will take place on Saturday, October 12. The race is organized by Savannah’s Waterfront in collaboration with Plant Riverside District, with proceeds benefiting Savannah’s Waterfront, a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the history, maintain the appearance, promote the area, and promote collaboration among businesses along Savannah’s Waterfront.

Apart from the fastest run awards in all weight classes, there will be exciting contests such as best dressed dog, best dressed dog owner and more. Entry cost is $25.00. Registration/check-in will open at 9:00 a.m., races begin at 11:00 a.m. in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 400 West River Street. The grand prize winner will receive a special trophy as well as a $100 gift card to District Seafood or District BBQ at Plant Riverside District.

“We had so much fun last year at Plant Riverside District, the new home for the Savannah Wiener Dog Races, and are thrilled that this exciting tradition has returned to River Street.” said Julie Musselman, Executive Director of Savannah’s Waterfront.

As of October 11, online registration is closed. Onsite registration is available on race day from 9:00am – 10:30am at MLK Park at Plant Riverside District, 400 W. River Street. Look for the white Savannah’s Waterfront tent. Please bring the $25 entry fee and your dog’s vaccination records.
