Make plans to join the fun on Saturday, October 10, for the 2026 Savannah Wiener Dog Races, hosted by Plant Riverside District and organized by Savannah’s Waterfront. Race heats are open to Dachshunds as well as “Almost Wiener Dogs,” with proceeds benefiting Savannah’s Waterfront. The festivities begin with a Doggy Parade and Costume Contest for wiener dogs with their owners to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. When the Costume Contest ends, its off to the races! The contestants are grouped by weight, and the winner of each heat receives their Fastest Run Award. Then those heat winners compete in the final race for the 2026 Grand Prize! Almost Wiener Dogs (Dachshund-mix dogs) may race in our special “Almost A Wiener” heat, but are ineligible for the grand prize trophy run. Spectators: Event begins at 11am. Only dogs registered for the races need to come to check in at the registration desk between 9am – 10:45am.
