Savannah’s Waterfront Independence Day Celebration

Get ready for an electrifying evening! In celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary, Savannah’s Waterfront is delighted to host our largest annual event, the Independence Day Celebration, on Saturday, July 4. Plans include entertainment in four waterfront locations – Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, Plant Riverside District, Savannah Convention Center and The Park at Eastern Wharf.
“There is no better place to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary than right here on Savannah’s Waterfront, where the colony of Georgia began” said Julie Musselman, Executive Director of Savannah’s Waterfront. “On Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, we are welcoming back the 3rd Infantry Division Band from Fort Stewart and have some fun new additions including the Most Patriotically Dressed Contest, 250th specials featured in our restaurants, shops and hotels, and even commemorative USA 250 hats and t-shirts.”
Beyond the plaza, there are plenty of waterfront ways to enjoy America 250, from DJ tunes and picnic-style fun at the Savannah Convention Center to rooftop parties and live music at Plant Riverside District, plus big band sounds from The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra at The Park at Eastern Wharf.
At 9:30pm the skies will be lit up by a dazzling fireworks show, perfectly synched to patriotic tunes for the enjoyment of guests in Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, Plant Riverside District, Eastern Wharf, and the Savannah Convention Center. The approximately 20 minute spectacle is fired from a floating barge in the Savannah River.
